Union member Sally Whitaker was featured in The West Australian newspaper today, speaking on why educators must be recognised for their professionalism, and why the crisis in early education and care is everyone's business.
Our favourite quote?
"Australia spends far less on early childhood education and care than other developed countries. Frankly, it shows - educators and families are paying the price. Given the challenge of improving affordability and access without increased funding, the Productivity Commission must resist the temptation to water down the quality of care and early learning in order to cut costs. This would be an incredibly short-sighted move. Our children are our greatest resource. We will all benefit if we give them the best possible start in live and collectively invest in this essential public good."
Brilliant article, Sally!
